UNIDO, the United Nations Industrial Developments Organization, undertook a study that identified opportunities for reducing carbon footprints in the selected agro-industries
The study’s result found that the most of the industries that uses carbon intensive technologies substantially contributes to GHG emissions: the primary carbon reduction opportunities for these industries is to use the renewable energy for electricity generations. The study was made for Tanzania and its territories, and the UNIDO’s proposal is to adopt of the Waste to Energy technologies, such a biomass gasification, in agro-industries as a solution to reducing the carbon footprints of the agro-industrial sector.
A number of Waste to Energy power plant developer/investor will be supported to demonstrate the technical and financial viability of this technology.
